The most common injuries at the elbow occur due to overuse which lead to inflammation, pain, and decreased function; Golfers elbow and Tennis elbow are examples of overuse injuries.
Due to poor swing mechanics such as scooping, casting & chicken winging, amateur golfers tend to present with GOLFERS elbow in the TRAIL arm and TENNIS elbow in the LEAD arm (the opposite is true for pro golfers) 🏌🏻♂️To reduce the risk of injury, we want to increase rotation in the swing, shallowing out the attack on the ball and avoiding digging the club into the ground. Maintaining the angles between the bicep-forearm and forearm-wrist on the downswing is a great drill to achieve this! 💪Add elbow CARs to your routine to maintain the motion at the elbow joint. Use proper exercise technique such as
good spinal alignment and scapular positioning & control throughout your exercise to reduce stress on your elbows!
